We passed legislation in Pennsylvania to ensure that all Primary Care doctors offer a one-time hepatitis C screening to all Babyboomers as recommended by the CDC.
We created a Fatty Liver Coalition to address the epidemic facing our country. We feel that through therapies, nutrition and physical activity, we will be able to help improve people’s health.
Our Kick Liver Disease Campaign created a lot of awareness around liver health and disease prevention, reaching 9.4 million people via our media campaign.
When I first began as the Executive Director more than 12 years ago, I didn’t realize that I had a personal connection to liver disease/health, but about 5 years ago, my mother was diagnosed with hepatitis C as a result of a blood transfusion back in the 1970’s and she was also diagnosed with Fatty Liver Disease. My dear, young cousin recently lost her battle with a rare liver disease. Many of the people that I have known over the years have become my friends and a part of my liver family, so I take it all very personally.
Being able to inspire life changing legislation, opening up avenues of collaboration within the community, creating awareness and offering tangible support to our liver community and seeing cures and therapies for liver illnesses that I never thought would happen in our lifetime. I am very excited that liver health is a part of the conversation.
Your liver is an important part of your total health, so treat it right!
I was happy to see a company dedicated to liver health. Amsety helps to break down barriers and stigmas in terms of making liver health an everyday priority.
I like to try extreme activities, I have jumped out of an airplane, zip-lined through the rain forest, para-sailed in Mexico and white water rafted though the new river gorge in West Virginia. I will try anything once!
